Robert H. Rappaport, DMD, is a certified orthodontic specialist and has maintained a private practice in Western Massachusetts for more than 40 years.
After completing his B.A. in Chemistry and Biology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Dr. Rappaport attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with honors in 1971, and was the recipient of numerous academic and clinical awards and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national Dental Honor Society. He completed his Specialty Training Residency with a Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago in 1973 and moved back to his hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts, to begin his private practice. Dr. Rappaport also worked for four years as a Clinical Instructor at the Springfield Technical Community College Dental Hygiene Department and has been on the staff of Baystate Medical Center’s Department of Surgery, Division of Dentistry for 42 years. In 1983 Dr. Rappaport moved his practice to Longmeadow. His goal has always been to provide the best possible result for his patients, while treating everyone with kindness, respect, humor and compassion. In 2015, he merged his practice with that of Dr. Stephen W. McKenna.
As a highly respected orthodontist, Dr. Rappaport has been active in numerous professional associations and is a Life Member of the Valley District Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the American Association of Orthodontists. He has served on the Longmeadow Board of Health since 1983 and has been Chairman since 2001.
A lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts, Dr. Rappaport enjoys spending his free time with his wife, two daughters and their spouses, and his four grandchildren. He enjoys sports, gardening, music, travel, and reading.
An accomplished athlete, Dr. Rappaport has participated in numerous marathons and triathlons. Swimming has always been one of his favorite sports, and he remains active on the Springfield, MA, U.S. Masters Swimming Club. In addition, he also plays in a weekly year-round men’s ice hockey league.
